While we have been discussing the effectiveness of games for Alzheimer's, we have not considered the popular alternative of drugs. Here is an interesting story we happened across that gave us a fresh perspective on the effectiveness of some drugs for Alzheimer's Disease. Have you heard about Neurochem (NRMX) and their drug, Alzhemed? Alzhemed is Neurochem's drug for treating Alzheimer's Disease. And it doesn't work.
Placebo one, Alzhemed zero
In a study released by the publicly traded company on Sunday, Neurochem announced that there was not enough difference between the results from their Alzhemed drug and a placebo drug to establish the drug as potent. The study lasted 18 months and the data did not statistically prove the effectiveness of Alzhemed.
A Holisitic Approach
We noted this story because it shows that the homeopathic (read: traditional medicine) world does not understand Alzheimers as well as some people think. Until the disease is properly understood and managed, treatment should not be applied from only one channel. A holistic approach would seem prudent*. We see one of those channels as mental workout games.
Games For Alzheimer's
Speaking of games for Alzheimer's, our engine is verrry close to completion. There is one large part that needs ironing out, but as soon as that is done, we will start releasing games for Alzheimer's Disease. We already have designs for several games ready and waiting to be turned into something playable. We can't wait to show you the fruits of our labor (yuk yuk!). Subscribe to our newsletter, the mango club, so you know when the games are coming out.
