We found another study that indicates the beneficial effects of playing association games for Alzheimer's patients. This would be the fifth article we have found supporting the fact, so we are quite convinced that there is a real need for our association games and brain games. The other articles can be found in our previous blogs, "Video Games as a Cure for Alzheimer's Disease" and "New Findings for Alzheimer's Disease".

- Mind Games May Trump Alzheimer's; Study Cites Effects Of Bridge, Chess
This was originally an article published in 2003 in the Washington Post. The above link is a PDF which might take a minute to open up. This article claims that the study it refers to is the, "most comprehensive study to examine the benefits of challenging intellectual activity among the elderly." Quite a claim indeed, yet the findings seem solid enough. The article also suggests that games have a healing effect on degenerated brain tissue. Their exact words were,"Using the mind actually causes rewiring of the brain, sprouting new synapses -- it may even cause the generation of new neurons," Coyle said. "So psychology trumps biology."

Association Games and mangokiwi
We have found more than enough information to tell us that there is a solid need for our association games and brain games. In fact, the above article hinted that our games may heal Alzheimer's Disease instead of just slowing its progress. This last statement still sounds suspicious to us, but doggone it, we feel like we are going to start on the games today because we know they will help!

activites / games for Alzheimers
I have done research in this area and then developed puzzles and memory treatment playing cards to meet the needs of those with memory loss. My products have the themes of Norman Rockwell - Saturday Evening Post Covers on all products, for repetition.
I've worked one-on-one in memory treatment centers testing these products and the results were unbelievable. I was working with residents in the "middle stage". I found it was easy to engage the residents in conversation because of the themes and they loved them. It was a great experience for me and the puzzles and cards are a wonderful way to interact with your loved ones. There was conversation, laughter and success, some needed help, and it was fun for everyone.
